Question 174: To ask the Minister for Transport the number of tachograph inspections or checks carried out by transport officers from his Department on heavy goods vehicles in 2003, 2004 and 2005; the number of such vehicles found to be in breach of the law in each year; the number of prosecutions which resulted in each year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Details of drivers' records inspected by transport officers during visits to operator premises and at roadside checks for the years in question are set out in the following table.
