According to the Garda authorities, which are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources, including personnel, trainee gardaí have not been accommodated in local hotels in Tipperary, during the construction of the new facilities in the Garda Training College, Templemore. Therefore, no hotel costs have been incurred in this regard. However, gardaí attending in-service training courses have transferred to an outsourced centre at the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh in April this year, allowing the Garda college to concentrate on recruitment training. The facilities contracted with the AbbeyCourt include the provision of office accommodation, classrooms and lecture and conference facilities, as well as bedroom accommodation for those attending the courses. The overall costs depend, to a large extent, on usage, including the number of courses and course participants.
