Question 426: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the extent of the expenditure of his Department in relation to Fondúireacht an Bhlascaoid, the Great Blasket Forum, since 1989; the extent of the involvement of his Department with all of the above; the future commitments his Department is liable for in regard to the development of the Great Blasket; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy may be aware, this is a matter principally for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Office of Public Works. While no expenditure had been incurred by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs on this particular project, an officer from my Department assisted the management group which prepared the draft development plan for An Blascaod Mór. With regard to future commitments, it is intended that my Department will be responsible for the development work on the piers on the island itself and at Dún Chaoin on the mainland in accordance with the development plan.
