Question 311: To ask the Minister for Transport if, in any negotiations he is conducting to change the terms of the bilateral air transport agreement between Ireland and the USA, a lengthy transitional period, to protect the interest of Shannon Airport will be included; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I have indicated in responses to previous questions, it is my clear intention to ensure an EU-US open skies agreement contains an appropriate transitional arrangement for Shannon which will be reflected in changes to the Ireland-US bilateral air transport agreement. The details of the transitional arrangement will be a matter for negotiation with the US.
