Question 596: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the number of boats that have used the Grand Canal for each of the past three seasons; the records that are kept in regard to such usage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29248/05]

Waterways Ireland has informed me that the figures for boat passages on the Grand Canal, which are collated at a number of the locks on the navigation, are 3,654 for 2003, 1,714 for 2004 and 2,319 for 2005.
