Question 831: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if the rural social scheme will be extended to include persons in the non-farming sector who are on low incomes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24611/05]

In order to participate in the rural social scheme, a person must be either a farmer or a fisherperson. There are no proposals to generally extend the scheme to persons outside these sectors.
