Under the general medical services scheme, GMS medical card, eligible persons are entitled to general practitioner services from GMS contract holding GPs and to a range of approved, prescribed medicines free of charge. There is no provision for the issue of items prescribed by other medical or paramedical specialists under the GMS scheme.
