During 2003 there was some preliminary correspondence between my Department and Ballymun Regeneration Limited regarding a proposal to provide a sports facility for the schools in question. The funding for that facility was to be provided by Ballymun Regeneration Limited and the Community Parks Foundation Incorporated. I understand that some initial works were done, which involved the provision of an astroturf pitch on about half of the existing grounds.

My Department is currently funding a large-scale refurbishment and extension project at the schools in question to facilitate their amalgamation. That project includes the refurbishment of the existing PE hall facility at the schools. The school authority in question has also now submitted correspondence relating to the completion of the remaining works relating to the astroturf pitch. That correspondence is currently being assessed by my Department, and the school authority will be kept advised of developments.
