Under the provisions of the local government superannuation scheme, a local authority may require a pensioner to make such declaration relating to the payment of a pension as it considers necessary. The purpose of the declaration is to satisfy the local authority that the continued payment of the pension is permissible. The frequency of such declaration is a matter for each local authority. The provisions of the local government superannuation scheme are in line with public service pensions schemes generally and there is no proposal to amend them.
