I propose to take Questions Nos. 259 and 260 together.

The study conducted by ERM, Environmental Resource Management, relating to public safety zones at the three main airports, Cork, Dublin and Shannon, is now complete and it is the intention that the outcome will be presented to Government jointly by me and the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, as soon as possible. The study conducted by ERM related only to public safety zones at Cork, Dublin and Shannon. There are no plans at present to introduce public safety zones at the regional airports.

Question 261: To ask the Minister for Transport further to Parliamentary Question No. 975 of 29 September 2004, if the review was a departmental or ministerial review rather than a matter for the new Dublin Airport Authority; if so, the reason the matter has been handed over to the DAA for consideration; if he has a role or function now in this review; if not, the reason therefor; his approach to this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since 1 October last, the "Dublin appointed day", the board of the Dublin Airport Authority, which replaced the previous Aer Rianta board, has a statutory mandate to do everything necessary to give effect to the restructuring of the State airports. In furtherance of that mandate, the position of the authority's principal subsidiaries, including the Great Southern Hotel group, falls to be considered by the authority itself in the first instance and thereafter by me.
