A total of €2,190,433.17 has been spent on the Race Against Waste campaign from July 2003 to date out of a total budget of €3.5 million to end June 2004. The campaign is being financed from the environment fund which is resourced from the plastic bags and landfill levies. Research on the impact of the campaign is being carried out at a number of stages in order to ensure that the campaign's effectiveness can be evaluated in due course.
