I move:

That Seanad Éireann recognises the Holodomar (inflicting death by starvation) of 1932-1933 as a genocide on the Ukrainian people and on its 90th anniversary on 26th November, 2022 we show our solidarity with Ukraine in commemorating this man-made famine which was inflicted on the Ukrainian people by the deliberate policies of the totalitarian Stalinist regime which resulted in millions of innocent lives being lost.

I welcome the Ukrainian ambassador. I thank all the Members who spoke on this important issue of genocide 90 years ago, in which millions of innocent Ukrainian men, women and children died needlessly due to a policy inflicted by a larger neighbour. We remember them today as we approach the 90th anniversary. I thank the ambassador for being here for the taking of this motion.

Question put and agreed to.
