As a result of the fact that the House has dealt with the Bill much more quickly than anticipated, there is a gap in our schedule. I ask the Acting Leader to propose a suspension until 6 p.m.

I would like, for the benefit of the House, to make it clear that I am available to take the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2017 if the Seanad deems it fit to do so now.

I propose we take the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2017 now.

It is not ordered. Can we order that it be taken now?

We should suspend Standing Orders in order to take the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2017, the debate on which has been ongoing for some time. We have a responsibility, whenever we have the opportunity, to try to progress this legislation.

I propose a suspension until 6 p.m., but with the caveat that the Minister has made it clear that he is available.

The business has already been ordered for today. I regret that I cannot be more facilitating.

Sitting suspended at 4.45 p.m. and resumed at 6 p.m.
