I have received notice from Senator Colm Burke that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to confirm that additional funding will be provided to Cork University Maternity Hospital which will allow the operating theatre to open five days a week as opposed to three and a half days a week and further confirmation that the second theatre which is not being used will also be opened.

I have also received notice from Senator Gerard P. Craughwell of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to establish a commission on taxation to review the structure, efficiency and appropriateness of the Irish taxation system.

I have also received notice from Senator Maura Hopkins of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to ensure that the necessary additional resources and services will be put in place to support the refugees who will be staying in the emergency reception and orientation centre in Ballaghaderreen and the local community.

I have also received notice from Senator Robbie Gallagher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the current state of ambulance response times in Monaghan and to confirm if there are enough resources now in place in order to prevent further delays.

I have also received notice from Senator Tim Lombard of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to engage with the European Commission and the European health industry regarding the question of relocating the European Medical Agency from its current base in London to an appropriate EU base in Cork.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Burke, Craughwell, Hopkins and Gallagher as suitable for discussion. I have selected Senators Burke, Craughwell and Hopkins and they will be taken now. Senator Gallagher has withdrawn his commencement matter which I had selected.

I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Lombard on the ground that it is a repeat of a similar commencement matter raised yesterday.
