I have received notice from Senator Paschal Mooney that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to state if he is aware that the European Medicines Agency is currently carrying out a safety review of HPV vaccines and allegations regarding their debilitating side effects, and that the UK, Italian, Spanish, French, Swedish and Danish associations have submitted their case histories and other relevant information along with their sister organisation in Ireland, REGRET; and if he will outline what steps, if any, his Department is taking to investigate the allegations of linkage between the HPV vaccine and the side effects referred to.

I have also received notice from Senator Averil Power of the following mater:

The need for the Minister for Health to state if the Government will ring-fence funding for a new accident and emergency department at Beaumont Hospital and take other steps to address the overcrowding crisis there, such as increasing the number of convalescent home places in north Dublin and improving the D-Doc out-of-hours GP service.

I have also received notice from Senator Paul Coghlan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht to outline the policy of the National Parks and Wildlife Service with regard to deer in Killarney National Park and the wider Kerry area in view of their encroachment on public roads and consequent accidents and damage to motor vehicles.

I have also received notice from Senator Jim D'Arcy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to outline the measures taken to increase security in the north Louth area in the aftermath of the foul murder of Garda Tony Golden and if she will support the call by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade for the establishment of a new cross-Border task force to tackle organised crime in the area and issues such as large-scale smuggling operations, fuel laundering, drug dealing and extortion.

I have also received notice from Senator Catherine Noone of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to outline the position regarding the provision of a purpose-built forensic science laboratory on the previously identified site in Kildare following her correspondence to the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality in this regard.

I have also received notice from Senator Colm Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to review the current procedure whereby the three-year rule does not apply to a person who has an income-generating asset such as a family farm.

I have also received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh of the following matter:

An gá atá ann go ndaingneoidh an tAire Sláinte, i bhfianaise fhíorasc an chróinéara i gcás an tseachtain seo caite - sonraí tugtha - cé na bearta a rinne, nó a dhéanfaidh, an Roinn, FSS agus Grúpa Ospidéal Saolta chun a chinntiú nach dtarlóidh a leithéid de chás arís.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Mooney, Power, Paul Coghlan and Jim D'Arcy and they will be taken now. Senators Burke, Noone and Ó Clochartaigh may give notice on another day of the matters they wishes to raise.
