I move:

That Seanad Éireann:expresses its concerns about the decision of the Court of Cassation in Bahrain on 1 October 2012 to uphold the prison sentences on a number of Bahraini medics;
welcomes the efforts made by the Tánaiste and the Government to bring the serious concerns in Ireland regarding the case of the imprisoned medics and the human rights situation generally in Bahrain to the attention of the Bahraini authorities;
notes the serious findings contained in the report of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry regarding the use of torture and mistreatment in custody and calls on the Government to continue encouraging the Bahraini authorities to implement in full and as soon as possible the recommendations of the Bahraini Independent Commission of Inquiry report;
notes the urgent need for all sides within Bahrain to engage in genuine national dialogue with a view to promoting reconciliation and calls on the Bahraini authorities to intensify their efforts in this regard to promote such dialogue and reconciliation.

Question put and agreed to.
