EU Regulation on Mutual Recognition of Protection Measures in Civil Matters: Referral to Joint Committee

I move:

That the proposal that Seanad √Čireann approves the exercise by the State of the option or discretion under Protocol No. 21 on the position of the United Kingdom and Ireland in respect of the area of freedom, security and justice annexed to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, to take part in the adoption and application of the following proposed measure:

a proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on mutual recognition of protection measures in civil matters,

a copy of which was laid before Seanad √Čireann on 13 June 2011, be referred to the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality, in accordance with Standing Order 70A(3), which, not later than 21 July 2011, shall send a message to the Seanad in the manner prescribed in Standing Order 73, and Standing Order 75(2) shall accordingly apply.
