I have received notice from Senator Jim Walsh that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Law Reform to make a statement on the implementation of the recommendations of the Competition Authority's report of December 2006 in respect of independent regulation of barristers and independent control of the qualifying educational requirement and to inject real competition into the operation of the legal professions in the interests of legal service users.

I regard the matter raised by the Senator as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business.
