I have received notice from Senator Cecilia Keaveney that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to clarify the reason that Buncrana Harbour works have not commenced despite money being made available for this at least twice and given the serious safety issues involved for the RNLI.

I have also received notice from Senator Ronan Mullen of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to clarify the measures to be taken to ensure that teachers who were awarded a postgraduate diploma in learning support or special education needs prior to summer 2006 will henceforth receive the same allowance as that received by teachers who were awarded a postgraduate diploma in learning support or special education needs after summer 2006.

I have also received notice from Senator Pearse Doherty of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to address the situation in Letterkenny General Hospital, whereby due to budget constraints the hospital will be closing one of its 20 bed wards and to indicate if she believes that this will adversely affect patient care.

I have also received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline her strategy to provide social worker cover in Cork city at weekend hours.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Keaveney, Mullen and Doherty and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Buttimer may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
