I move:

That Seanad Éireann agrees with the recommendation of the Committee on Procedure and Privileges that, in accordance with the provisions for the address to Seanad Éireann by Distinguished Persons, Mr. Hans Gert Pottering, President of the European Parliament be invited to address Seanad Éireann on 8 April, 2008 and the following arrangements shall apply in relation to that day. I wish to make a brief point on this motion. It has emerged, and I have had representations made to me in this regard, that if other Members could ask questions on that day, time permitting, depth and relevance could be added to the visit. This would mean we would have a chance to ask questions that we are asked by members of the public. We should try to facilitate questions from other Members of the House that day, if time allows for this.

I join the Leader in his gracious thanks to everyone here who has facilitated this session.

Time is tight for Mr. Pottering's visit so we will discuss the Senator's suggestion later.

Question put and agreed to.
