I have notice from Senator Shane Ross that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to proceed with Ireland's accession to the Antarctic Treaty 1959.

I have also received notice from Senator Alan Kelly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport and the Marine to outline the reasons for the Government's refusal to use its 25% shareholding in Aer Lingus to convene an extraordinary general meeting to reverse the airline's decision to cancel the Shannon-Heathrow route.

I have also received notice from Senator Pearse Doherty of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to commence talks with her northern counterpart Minister, Michael McGimpsey, to progress plans for a satellite radiotherapy unit to service cancer patients in the north west on a cross-Border basis.

I have also received notice from Senator Déirdre de Búrca of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to clarify why there are only three pathology laboratories in the Republic of Ireland that hold full accreditation from the Irish National Accreditation Board, as a result of which breast biopsies and cervical smears are being analysed in understaffed and underfunded laboratories which are not monitored, which causes many errors and delays to occur; and the steps the Government intends taking to resolve the matter.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Shane Ross, Pearse Doherty and Alan Kelly and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Déirdre de Búrca may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
