I have received notice from Senator Tuffy that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to give the up to date position on the urgent need for additional school accommodation at primary and second level for the growing population of Lucan, County Dublin.

I have also received notice from Senator Browne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to state why the number of places for students wishing to do the postgraduate courses for primary teaching in the various colleges of education have been cut; and to urge him to reverse the decision immediately.

I have also received notice from Senator Paddy Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to explain the up to date position for funding and the timeframe for the N5, Castlebar to Westport.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Toole of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to establish an Irish short wave radio service so that the growing number of Irish emigrants can keep more in contact with Irish news no matter in what part of the world they live.

I have also received notice from Senator McHugh of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to indicate when the refurbishment project to Ballyraine national school, Letterkenny, County Donegal, will progress to advanced architectural planning stage and when it will go to tender.

I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator O'Toole as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. I regard the matters raised by the remaining Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Tuffy, Browne and Paddy Burke's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator McHugh may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
