I have received notice from Senator Brian Hayes that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to establish an interdepartmental inquiry to investigate the granting of citizenship outlined in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 5 in Dáil Éireann on 17 October 2002, with a view to establishing whether the applications for the 11 citizenships granted by the former Minister, Ray Burke, were validly grounded.

I have also received notice from Senator Coghlan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the implications of the proposed sale of 4.65 acres by Great Southern Hotels immediately adjacent to Killarney railway station and the likely adverse impact on the development of services and car parking facilities thereat.

I regard the matter raised by Senator Hayes as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret that I have had to rule Senator Coghlan's matter out of order as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter.
