I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the crisis with regard to the use of cocaine across every stratum of society which is reaching epidemic proportions and the lack of a concerted effort to eradicate the illegal drugs trade.

Notwithstanding the useful and constructive exchange of views between Deputies Gilmore and Kenny and the Taoiseach, I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss a matter of national importance, namely, the mainstreaming of the cocaine culture in Ireland and the need for urgent action in the criminal justice system to curtail the use and supply of the drug.
