I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Paul Connaughton — redundancies in the FÁS community employment schemes and the subsequent problems this creates for the workers involved and the community projects they were working on; and the matter of the continuing cap on the numbers seeking work on the rural social scheme; (2) Deputy Joe Costello — the need to construct a Luas line from the city centre to Liffey Junction via Broadstone-Grangegorman; (3) Deputy Michael Ring — the need to discuss the patient transport service; (4) Deputy Brian O'Shea — the consideration of a report on the submission of Waterford Institute of Technology for upgrading to university status; (5) Deputy Michael Creed — the need to discuss the proposed building of a new school in County Cork; (6) Deputy James Bannon — the need to provide urgent core funding for the continuation and expansion of osteoporosis services, which are currently provided by the Irish Osteoporosis Society, which is a charitable organisation and is surviving with a staff of two to cover the entire country and which will be forced to close without such funding, leaving the public and health professionals without a point of contact; and (7) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the need to provide the necessary resources to Kerry General Hospital to ensure that the orthopaedic service is upgraded.

The matters raised by Deputies Michael Ring, Jimmy Deenihan, Brian O'Shea and Deputy Michael Creed have been selected for discussion.
