I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of national importance, namely, the discriminatory allocation of €114 million under the dairy investment fund because in making the allocations, the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Deputy Coughlan, has failed to take the opportunity to enhance the dairy industry in the north west where dairy interests sought funding for a joint cheddar cheese project. By her actions the Minister has acted against the policy of successive Governments to encourage joint projects and rationalisation in the industry and has further continued the Government's refusal to deliver fair treatment to the north west.
