I seek leave to move a motion for the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent public concern, namely, to afford the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children an opportunity to tell the House what actions she has taken to investigate the subjection of Irish women to the brutal medical procedure known as symphysiotomy, to enable the Minister to outline measures she is putting in place to ease the pain and suffering of these victims of symphysiotomy and to outline why progress on this issue over many years has been so slow.
