Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

4:00 pm

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I wish to propose the adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent public and national concern, namely, the protracted and inexplicable delay in the publication of the report of the independent external inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death in Monaghan General Hospital in October 2005 of Mr. Patrick Joe Walsh for which a timescale of eight weeks had been promised to the Walsh family, the fact that 13 weeks have passed since the commitment to an expeditious review and report was given, with the circumstances of Mr. Walsh's tragic death being apparently treated with considerably less urgency than they so clearly would warrant, and calls on the HSE to explain the lengthy delay in the publication of the report of the fateful events of 14 October 2005 in Monaghan General Hospital which resulted in the needless death of Mr. Walsh.
