I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following matter of urgent national importance, namely, the research just published that shows the rate of severe mental illness among prisoners on remand in jails to be almost 40 times higher than among the general community and depression and other forms of mental illness rates among sentenced prisoners of 29% for men and 60% for women.
