I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of urgent public importance, namely, that the manner in which Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy McDowell, is appointing members to the new Garda Ombudsman Commission lacks transparency and openness and will damage the public's confidence in the commission from the outset.
