I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the urgent need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to recruit the 2,000 additional gardaí promised in the programme for Government, and to recruit additional community gardaí to tackle the plague of anti-social behaviour which is making life unbearable for residents in large areas of our towns and cities. I to ask the Minister to make a statement on the matter.
