Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
11:00 am
Dan Boyle (Cork South Central, Green Party)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, that in light of the newly-released Irish prison inspectorate report on Cork Prison, describing it as the most overcrowded in the Irish prison system, where prisoners are still expected to slop out, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform explain to the House why Fort Mitchell Prison, Spike Island, remains empty, eight miles distant from Cork city, with in-cell sanitation and more than €8 million of public investment in recent years.
