The agenda for today is as follows: the accounts and statements; correspondence; our work programme; and any other business.

There is one set of accounts and financial statements that was laid between 16 and 20 June 2025 and is due to be considered today. I will ask the Comptroller and Auditor General, Mr. Seamus McCarthy, to introduce it before opening the floor to members.

Mr. Seamus McCarthy:

The financial statements presented this week are from Microfinance Ireland for the year of account 2024. It received a clear audit opinion.

As members have no questions for the Comptroller and Auditor General on the matter, we will proceed to correspondence.

Correspondence issued between 5 and 12 June was issued to committee members in advance. We will address one, No. R0165, which is seeking to clarify the attendance of HIQA at a public accounts committee hearing. The committee has agreed to request the attendance of the chief executive and the chief inspector. Is that agreed? Agreed.

As no other items of correspondence have been flagged for discussion, I will proceed to the work programme. As noted last week, the committee has agreed its work programme until the summer recess as follows: 3 July, Children’s Health Ireland and the National Treatment Purchase Fund; 10 July, Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, with representatives from the National Shared Services Office; and 17 July, the Health Information and Quality Authority with the witnesses as we just agreed. Is that agreed? Agreed.

As there is no other business members wish to discuss in public session, that concludes our meeting for this week. The committee is adjourned until 9.30 a.m. on Thursday, 3 July 2025. At that meeting, the committee will engage with Children’s Health Ireland and the National Treatment Purchase Fund at 10.30 a.m. to examine their 2023 financial statements.

The committee adjourned at 1.29 p.m. until 9.30 a.m. on Thursday, 3 July 2025.
