I ask members to please note that the election for the position of Leas-Chathaoirleach may be carried out in private. Are members happy to continue in public session? That is agreed.

One nomination for the position of Leas-Chathaoirleach was received before the deadline. It is for Deputy Shane Moynihan. As there is only one nomination, I will now put the question. Is it agreed that Deputy Shane Moynihan be elected as Leas-Chathaoirleach of the joint committee? Agreed. I declare Deputy Shane Moynihan elected as Leas-Chathaoirleach. I congratulate him and look forward to working with him. I give him the floor to say a few words.

Gabhaim buíochas leis an Chathaoirleach as ucht an deis seo a labhairt. I thank my colleagues for their confidence in me as Leas-Chathaoirleach. I look forward to working collaboratively with every member of the committee to advance what I hope is a national transport policy for both urban and rural. In that vein and spirit, I will not delay the meeting further. I look forward to beginning the work. I thank the members and look forward to working with them.
