Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach

Central Bank of Ireland: Discussion

Professor Philip Lane:

Absolutely. When one looks at what we have now in the Single Market with the four freedoms and all the interactions, even with, say, a customs union, the services trade by and large would be outside that and so much of what we do is services. Along with that, one has whatever rating comes in for labour mobility. Unless there is free movement of workers between the UK and the rest of Europe, that will be a big change.
