Special Report No. 77 of the Comptroller and Auditor General - Dublin Docklands Development Authority: Discussion (Resumed)

11:50 am

Mr. Paul Maloney:

My first job was as a captain in the Defence Forces. I served overseas with the Irish Army. After that I had various jobs. As I was a qualified engineer, I had various jobs in the private sector. I then went to the city council and was appointed area manager for the north-east inner city, an area of total dilapidation and hugely disenfranchised. I was involved on a day-to-day basis over that period - I am very proud of this - in pulling down and rebuilding all of the social housing in St. Jude's Gardens, St. Joseph's Mansions and Mountain View Court. I am very proud that all of these areas have left the community there in a better position.
