The purpose of the meeting is to consider EU legislative proposals on a variety of matters. We have had a discussion on the various intricacies of the proposals in private session, which we will now deal with. Three proposals are listed under schedule A and five under schedule B for decision. It is proposed to deal with schedule B proposals first. Is it agreed that COM (2012)527, COM (2012)705, COM (2013)35, COM (2013) 96 and COM (2013)97 do not warrant further scrutiny? Agreed.

Schedule A proposals are COM (2013)228, concerning simplifying the acceptance of certain public documents in the EU. The committee notes that Ireland is broadly supportive of the proposal in principle. It is proposed given the wide scope of the proposals that it warrants further scrutiny. However, given negotiations on it have only commenced and there may be more clarity regarding its implications in the autumn, it is proposed that, in the first instance, the Department be asked to provide an update to the committee at the end of October indicating progress and developments regarding the proposal. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Is it agreed that COM (2013)151 does not warrant further scrutiny? Agreed.

COM (2013)96 concerns facilitating the exercise of worker's rights in the context of freedom of movement. It is proposed that this proposal does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.
