As the director knows, we were getting worried at one stage that we would not have any experts in Irish language placenames. We solved it very quickly. We gave a number of scholarships to people to do masters and some of them went on to do PhDs in placenames. Then we had a great supply of them - some who worked in placenames and branched out and others who are only just qualified in this, but who are authorities in this particular subject. It is not rocket science to decide to give a few scholarships to people in town planning to do a postgraduate with a condition that they would be capable of doing their business through Irish. It did not cost a fortune before. It was actually very economical because they were given the equivalent of a science bursary if someone were to do a PhD or MSc in science.
