My Department continues to take advice from the National Cyber Security Centre in respect of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and are following recommendations provided in June 2023.
As part of any future use of AI, my Department will be aligned to the Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service which were published by the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation in 2025. Central training supports on the Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service, including eLearning content, is available to all staff.
My Department is also investigating additional supplementary supports that may compliment these central supports in future training needs of staff in the Department in use of and understanding of AI.
All training and supports targeted by the Department will be reviewed and aligned necessarily with the obligations under the EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act, which is under the remit of the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment..
