The Department of the Taoiseach is in the process of developing a strategy and governance structure on the use of AI, informed by the Guidelines for the Responsible Use of AI in the Public Service and by the National Cyber Security Centre guidance on Generative AI for Public Sector Bodies.

The Institute of Public Administration - the central provider of training to Civil Service organisations - has made the following two on-demand eLearning courses available to staff on the OneLearning platform in 2025:

• Artificial Intelligence in the Public Service; and

• Navigating the Guidelines for the Responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in the Public Service.

Staff of the Department are also engaging in conferences/webinars/masterclasses, etc. to explore and better understand the potential for, and impact of, AI.
