Under the Universities Act 1977, universities are autonomous bodies and, as such, are responsible for staff contracts and associated Terms and Conditions. My Department does not hold the information requested and does not have an oversight role in relation to the employment status of staff in University College Galway (UCG) or any other university.
However, in order to assist the Deputy, officials have contacted UCG who have advised that 156 Contracts of Indefinite Duration (CID) have been awarded to staff over the period 2020-2025, with a further six CID contracts currently under review. The more detailed breakdown of information requested is not currently available, but UCG have indicated that they are conducting a further review, and additional information will be supplied directly once this is complete.
