404. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if funding is available which an association (details supplied) or its member organisations can apply for to continue its mentoring scheme for secondary schools to encourage emerging young talent and to putt on annual school musicals; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department provides funding through an annual competitive Music Bursary Scheme for non-mainstream music education initiatives outside of school and school curriculum. The nature of the scheme is that it is based on certain eligibility criteria, and I understand that the organisation in question applied for funding this year but did not meet the eligibility criteria.
I can further advise the Deputy that, funding choices regarding educational materials, textbooks, and other educational products as well as services, are made by individual schools and their boards of management.
