This building project for the school referred to by the deputy is part of a campus project that has been devolved for delivery to the local Education and Training Board.
The project will provide for the construction of a new primary school building for a separate school and the development of an 8 classroom primary school plus special education needs classes (SEN) for the school referred to.
This project received Department approval to progress to Stage 2A (detailed design) of the architectural planning design process in quarter 3 of 2025. This stage included the development of the design, and an accurate cost plan that best meets the design, as agreed. My department now awaits submission of a stage 2a report and will continue to engage with the local ETB to provide practical advice and assistance on the project.
In relation to the issue of the current inadequate play area for the pupils referred to, my department is in discussions with the patron with regard to potential options to assist the school on this matter.
