I propose to take Questions Nos. 319, 320 and 321 together.
The figures that the Deputy is seeking do not exist. Imported vehicles that are re-registered in Ireland are treated the same way as any other Irish registered vehicle and must undergo an NCT test if the car is over four years old. Ukrainian-registered vehicles are not subject to these periodic roadworthiness testing requirements currently.
The Revenue Commissioners is responsible for the registration of vehicles in Ireland, including the re-registration of vehicles registered in other jurisdictions and imported into the State by individuals resident in Ireland. Subject to certain conditions, Revenue may grant a temporary exemption from the requirement to register a vehicle, including vehicles from Ukraine. The Minister for Finance may be in a position to advise on efforts to encourage Ukrainians living here under the temporary protection directive to register their vehicles, which would bring them into the periodic roadworthiness testing regime.
Finally, it should be noted that, by law, all vehicles must be maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition when used on public roads.
