257. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will review the case of a person (details supplied); if the decision on the RSA compensation claim could be expedited; if consideration will be given to reimbursing the cost of two additional driving lessons booked, one the day before and one on the morning of the cancelled test, which proven unnecessary due to the last-minute cancellation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has statutory responsibility for the National Driver Testing Service. In that regard, the operation of the service does not fall under the direct control of the Minister and it would not be appropriate for the Minister to intervene in individual cases.
Given the RSA's responsibility in this matter, I have referred the Deputy's question to the RSA for direct response. Please contact my office if a reply is not received within ten days.
