To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of prosecutions brought in the past three years for providing false or misleading information during asylum, visa, or deportation processes; and whether legislative amendments are being considered to increase penalties for such offences. I can advise the Deputy that prosecutions are a matter for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and as Minister I have no role in the operations of that Office, nor does my Department have statistics on prosecutions brought on the grounds referred to. Legislation in the field of immigration and other relevant areas is kept under ongoing review.
