To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment the number of vacancies which arose at principal officer level for the years 2022, 2023, 2024 and to date in 2025 in his Department and agencies under the aegis of his Department; the number of these vacancies filled between internal and external methods; the number of vacancies each year at principal officer level filled by mobility; the number of internal competitions for principal officer grade run by his Department since 2010; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Culture, Communications and Sport was established in its current configuration on 01 June 2025.

The number of vacancies at Principal Officer level since 1 June 2025 is six.

Of these, two were new posts to assist with the Department’s preparations for the Presidency of the EU, in Dublin and Brussels. Both posts were filled internally by competition in the Principal Officer grade.

Additionally, an internal competition is currently underway for Acting Up to Principal Officer to fill one vacancy.

Two further vacancies were advertised via Civil Service Mobility with one position filled to date.

The recruitment method for the one remaining vacancy is currently under consideration.
