The Active School Flag Post-Primary Programme was formally launched on 5 November, based on a pilot project with 42 secondary schools. An application process for up to 50 new schools will be opened in December 2025. Two information webinars are taking place on 2nd and 3rd December for interested schools.
This marks a milestone moment in the progression of the ASF initiative, which has been running successfully at primary school level for over 15 years. It also reflects a commitment made in the 2025 Programme for Government to expand the initiative to promote physical activity and health among school communities.
Active School Flag Post Primary (ASFPP) promotes physical activity, using a whole-of-school approach, anchored by student voice and student leadership.
ASFPP supports schools to find ways to increase the range, variety and type of physical activity opportunities throughout the school day, so that schools become ‘enabling environments’ for physical activity, for all their members.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 487 and 488 together.
The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has responsibility for the operation and delivery of the State examinations, and facilitates access to the examinations through its scheme of reasonable accommodations at the certificate examinations, otherwise known as the RACE scheme.
In view of this, I have asked the SEC to respond directly to the Deputy.
