As the Deputy may be aware, the Infrastructure Manager Multi Annual Contract (IMMAC) involves a multi-annual Exchequer investment funding programme to protect our national railway system, funding maintenance and safety projects needed to maintain safety and service levels in railway operations, including in the Roscommon - Galway region. For 2025, €380 million of Exchequer funding is being invested in IMMAC-related works across the country.

Separately, there are ongoing station upgrades at both Ceannt and Oranmore stations in Galway being financed by the Exchequer. The redevelopment of Ceannt station will deliver an integrated transport hub in the heart of Galway City Centre, which will provide an improved customer experience and capacity for future growth with three additional platforms. This project is scheduled to be completed next year. The Oranmore Station project will improve railway infrastructure at the station, the benefits of which include increasing the capacity on the line between Athenry and Galway, construction on this project commenced in October and is expected to be completed in 2027.

As the operation, maintenance and renewal of the rail network is a matter for Iarnród Éireann in the first instance, I have referred the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply. Please contact my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
