1008. To ask the Minister for Health the current number of emergency ambulances available to serve Dublin city and county; the average response times for life-threatening incidents in the Dublin area, in tabular form ; the measures being taken to address delays and increase ambulance capacity given recent cases where patients waited up to two hours for an ambulance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy may be aware, the primary provider of ambulance services in Dublin is Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB), which provides emergency ambulance services in Dublin on behalf of Dublin City Council. DFB also has primary responsibility for emergency ambulance call taking and dispatching in Dublin, which is coordinated through their Eastern Region Control Centre (ERCC) based in Townsend Street in Dublin.
Ambulance service delivery matters in Dublin, including DFB ambulance performance and resourcing, are ultimately a matter for my colleague the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to address.
The National Ambulance Service (NAS) provides some assistance to DFB when requested, but provision of assistance is subject to NAS resource availability.
